Welcome Pastor Tom Franks
Bonanza Community Church is proud to welcome Pastor Tom Franks and his wife Tammi. Pastor Tom began his ministry with Bonanza Community Church on January 1, 2008. We are excited to watch God's providence for our body and look forward to a bright future with him.
About the Franks
Tom was born in 1959 into a Navy family. He was a "surf bum" on Hawaii's beaches. Even though he grew up in the church and was called into the ministry at a young age, he didn't give his heart to Christ until he was a junior in high school.
Tammi was born in 1960 in the Seattle area where she lived until middle school at which time she moved to Fresno, CA. She also grew up in the church but didn't get serious about her faith until high school. Her father was in management with J.C. Penny and was transfered to Hawaii.
Tammi began attending the same church and bible college as Tom where they met, fell in love, and were married in 1980.
After graduation, Tom & Tammi moved to California's bay area to begin full time youth ministry and work on Tom's master's degree which he received in 1985. They were blessed with two sons during these years: Tim was born in 1982 and Tom in 1985.
In 1988, Tom joined the ministry of Compassion International and spent four years traveling in the third world and educating American Christians about the biblical response to poverty. He also completed his doctorate degree during this time.
Tom & Tammi moved to Colorado Springs in 1992 so Tom could become the pastor of Living Word Church where he pastored until 2003.
They moved to Maine in 2003 to pastor Morrill Baptist Church to the present. Their son Tim is currently in his second year of seminary earning his master's degree in youth ministry. Their other son, Tom, has just finished four years as an army ranger (4 tours in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan), and is now in his first year at the University of Colorado.
Tom and Tammi have been married for 27 years and look forward to another 27 in love and in Christ's service!
